Free flu vaccines offered to students by Emory Univ.

2008-07-31 / News

In order to increase the number of adolescents receiving flu vaccines, Emory University, the Lincoln County Health Department, and local physicians will provide free vaccines to students at LCMS and LCHS this fall.

Information on the immunization program will be available in conjunction with the open houses at the two schools, both set for Thursday, August 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

According to Shela Bentley, school nurse for LCMS and LCHS, "This program is giving us the opportunity to improve the health of our students, which should result in fewer absences from school. Children can't learn if they aren't in school."

For more information about flu vaccines for adolescents, contact the local health department at 706-359- 3154 or Shela Bentley at 706-359- 3069.
