The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County met at the public library July 17 at 6:30 p.m.

President Al Bean opened the meeting. Vice President Linda Burns welcomed the members and visitors. Wade Johnson gave the invocation. President Al Bean led the Pledge of Allegiance.

President Al Bean read the results of the Primary election, county, state, and federal. The turnout of voters in Lincoln County was 44.6. All the referendums received yes votes.

Wade Johnson thanked the group for voting and answered questions from the members.

Gerald Lawson spoke to the group and did a numbers crunch. He also thanked the people for coming out to vote.

County water that is supposed to be coming to Stillwater Cove and to Holiday Estates was discussed .The new water was supposed to be in by May 2008, but now it will not be in before the spring of 2009. People in the Holiday Estates area, who signed up for water, should not expect their insurance to decrease, but only a small amount.

The CCLC will continue to contact the citizens of Lincoln County to register to vote. If you are an inactive voter, you will have to re-register. The CCLC would like to see the turn-out of voters in Lincoln County exceed 75 percent.

The group discussed having a debate between candidates at a later date, with an out-of-county moderator.

For the August meeting, we will try to get a school board member to address the CCLC.

The meeting was adjourned with the next meeting scheduled for August 21st.

Please remember that our rights to vote were given to us by the Constitution of the United States, and we can vote any way we please. This is not true in many countries in this world, so exercise that right and vote in November.
