Wade awaiting extradition on attempted murder charge
A man wanted for attempted first degree murder in North Carolina was arrested by officers with the Lincolnton Police Department and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Thursday, July 10.
According to Jim Justice, chief of police, "At 11:18 a.m., we received a call in reference to an individual climbing through the front window of a residence on Goshen Street. After back-up arrived, we knocked on the door but no one responded."
The suspect then apparently overheard a conversation between the police chief and the owner of the residence. He subsequently walked out of the front door and was taken into custody.
Victor Jerome Wade, 23, is currently awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
Other arrests made recently in the city were:
.. Havalyn Inglett, 36, of Lincolnton, charged with failure to stop at an accident with injuries or damages.
In an unrelated incident, the subject was arrested and charged with DUI. At the time, it was also determined that Richmond County had an outstanding warrant on Inglett for a probation violation.
.. Eddie Lockhart, 27, of Lincolnton, charged with disorderly conduct.
.. Shauntee Gartrell, 25, of Lincolnton, charged with disorderly conduct.
.. Johnathan D. Watkins, 23, of Lincolnton, charged with driving with a suspended license, violation of the seat belt law, having a suspended registration, and having no proof of insurance.
Concerning incidents occurring in the city:
.. Arthur Swift reported that an unknown person(s) removed a 4'x 8' plywood sign from in front of the new gymnasium under construction at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex.
.. Tiwanna Ferguson reported that an unknown person(s) used a brick to break a window out of a residence on Goshen Street.
.. Tiwanna Ferguson reported that an unknown person(s) forced open the front door of her residence on Dawkin's Street. Nothing was missing, according to the complainant.
.. Lawrence Elam reported that an unknown person(s) scratched the paint on his 2002 Ford Crown Victoria, forced open the driver's side door and removed a Sony car radio, and entered the trunk and stole two 12-inch speakers while the vehicle was parked at his residence on King's Way. The items were valued at a total of $650.
.. Stephanie Phillips reported that an unknown person(s) removed $200 from her billfold while she was staying at the Lincoln Motel.
