Twenty-four Lincoln Co. Cloverleaf 4-H'ers, one teen leader and two adult leaders attended Rock Eagle 4- H Center for a wonderful week of summer camp on June 30 through July 4, 2008. Summer camp at Rock Eagle is truly a magical experience that 4-Hers will never forget.

The theme for the week of summer camp is Indian lore. Over 1000 4-H'ers from counties across the state were divided into three tribes Shawnee, Cherokee and Muskogee.

Lincoln Co. 4-H'ers were a part of the Muscogee tribe. The Muskogee tribe is the land of the flaming arrows led by a tribal mico and camp counselors. Campers had the opportunity to compete against other tribes in games throughout the week for the tribal shield.

In addition, our 4-Hers enjoyed many educational activities and events such as herpetology, ropes course, swimming, canoeing and healthy lifestyle class. It is a tradition at camp that the story of the Rock Eagle Mound and how Rock Eagle got its legendary name be told at the pageant performed by campfire on Thursday night at the Pageant Ground.

Lincoln Co. 4-H'ers enjoyed their experiences at camp and they look forward to next year's summer camp adventure.
