Community Calendar Board of elections meetings The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted. Dinner served Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal. Pageant at Ebenezer The Ebenezer Baptist Church Gospel Choir is sponsoring a Little Mr. and Mrs. Pageant on July 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church for ages two through five. There will be a prize for first, second, and third place for the child that turns in the most money. Softball camp All upcoming fourth-eighth graders are invited to attend Lincoln County Softball Camp on July 18 and 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the LC Recreation Department. The cost is $35 per person and it includes a camp t-shirt. Pick up a registration form from the LC Recreation Department, Coach Mallory Thigpen, or Coach David Fernandes. Registration forms may be turned in to the LC Recreation Department (preferred) or bring it with you the day of camp. Gold Rush Pageant The Miss Gold Rush Pageant will be held on Saturday, August 2 at 6:30 p.m. Categories are available for ages 3 - 21. Entry fee is $30 per contestant, $50 for two in same family. Applications are available at the Mc- Cormick County Chamber of Commerce or you may email goldrushpageant@gmail.com to obtain a copy. Deadline is July 25. Info. needed Archivists are seeking officers, enlisted men, WACs, cadets, britons, civilians and/or their families and friends who are stationed at Cochran Field, or lived in Macon, Georgia during WWII, who would be willing to contribute artifacts, photos, articles, and stories pertaining to their experience with the men and women working there. Looking for recipes The Lincoln County Historical Society is in the process of compiling a cookbook that will showcase all of the wonderful recipes that Lincoln County people love to prepare. We want this cookbook to not only include recipes but the history of Lincoln County as well. If you have any historical facts or human interest stories that reflect the history of Lincolnton, please submit them to us by July 10th along with your favorite recipes. Submit as many as you like and make sure you put your name on each entry. You may send your stories or recipes to the Lincoln County Historical Society at P.O. Box 869 or place them in a drop box that will be located on the front porch at the May House until July 10th. We want this cookbook to be one of your favorites as well as your very own reference on some of the history of Lincoln County. Your participation with this is greatly appreciated. Reunion planning The Class of 1994 is in the process of planning a 15 year class reunion. Contact information is lchs94@ yahoo.com Consignors wanted Lincolnton United Methodist Church is seeking consignors for its first annual Fall Kids Pass it On Consignment Sale to be held at the church on September 5 - 6. Consignors receive 60% of the amount sold while the church receives 40% to go back into local missions. Homecoming at Harmony Homecoming Services for Harmony Baptist Church in Lincolnton will be held Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Colonial medicine demo A Colonial Medicine Living History Demonstration will be held at Elijah Clark State Park on Saturday, July 19th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join Gerald Smith to learn how the colonial army doctors treated patients with medicines available at the time. Take home a herb doctor's "receipt" for various ailments and their cures, and learn what medicines are available from their own herb garden at Elijah Clark. Everyone is invited to attend. The cost is a $3 parking fee per vehicle. Fund set up A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid the Beggs family. The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of the Beggs family. Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O. Debate Booster Club looking for donations Lincoln County High School students T.J. Carani, Amy Dandron, Sara Herring, Abigail Minor, and Nicklas Spens qualified for the National Speech Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, held June 16-20. Expenses are greater this year because of the number of qualifiers and the tournament location: airline tickets, lodging for five students, as well as the required adult judges to support the tournament. The Lincoln County Debate Boosters Club is accepting donations to offset tournament expenses. Homecoming, revival services at Hephzibah Hephzibah Baptist Church will have Homecoming Day on Sunday, July 20. The day's activities will consist of Sunday School at 10 a.m., Homecoming Worship Service at 11 a.m., and a barbecue and covered dish dinner on the grounds at 12:15 p.m. Rev. Ben Coleman, Pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church in Hartwell, will be bringing the Homecoming Service message. Revival services will be held Monday through Wednesday, July 21-23, at 7:30 p.m. The guest ministers for the revival services will be: Monday - Rev. Legal help offered Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal help, on a firstcome, first-serve basis on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Avenue, Lincolnton. If you are a senior citizen 60 years of age or older and have a civil (noncriminal) legal issue, the GLSP staff may be able to help you. The GLSP office which serves Lincoln County is in Augusta at 209 Seventh Street, Suite 400.
