Lincoln County residents are reminded that they have two more days to qualify to run for nonpartisan offices in the November 4 General/Nonpartisan Election.

Candidates may qualify at the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office, located in The Lincoln Center, from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. today (Thursday) and from 9 a.m. until noon on Friday.

Concerning local politics, the terms of office for the District 1 and 2 seats on the Lincoln County Board of Education are set to expire at the end of the year. These seats are currently held by Robert Hearst and Gail Remsen, respectively.

The qualifying fee for these offices is set at $35.

As of press time, no one had qualified to run in the election, according to Kelvin Williams, elections director for the county.

Those wishing to announce their candidacy in The Lincoln Journal may do so by submitting a photograph and a press release to the newspaper prior to 5 p.m. on Monday, July 7.

The press releases must not exceed 400 words and will be published at no charge on a first come, first served basis.

Thursday, July 17, marks the last day of publication for the announcements.
