Chantey Tutt receives degree from Augusta State May 10
CHANTEY JULIET TUTT tire. The criterion for selection was based on excellent character and outstanding service in their community. Miss Chantey Juliet Tutt was recently awarded a Bachelor of Social Work at the annual spring commencement ceremony for Augusta State University Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the James Brown Arena. A party was hosted afterwards by her parents to celebrate the occasion.
While attending Augusta State, Chantey has been active in several clubs and activities. She was a member of the Sociology Club from 2005- 2007 being named the Vice President for the 2006 and 2007 school years. This club hosted several campus wide events that enlightened students to cultural, ethical, and social differences. She was also a member of the Social Work Club whose influence on campus as well as the community has reformed the face of the new Social Work Program at Augusta State.
Chantey was also the recipient of the 2007 Akaisiah Butler Financial Assistance Award. This award given by a fellow alumnus was started for single African American mothers who needed to purchase professional at-
In the future, Chantey will attend graduate school to earn a Masters Degree in Social Work. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby and Shervon Tutt of Lincolnton. She is also the proud mother of Miss Ilasha N. Leverett.
