Arrowood named to Dean's List at Georgia Tech
      Local student, Taylor Arrowood of Lincolnton made the Dean's List for spring semester 2008 at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Undergraduate students earning a 3.00 or higher academic average for the semester gain the distinction of being named to the Dean's List at Georgia Tech.

      Youth Sunday Recognition will be held at the YMCA instead of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday morning, June 22, 2008, 9:15 a.m. Sunday school will be held at 8 a.m.; worship service will follow at 9:15 a.m. Rev. Willie J. White, Pastor.

Chantey Tutt receives degree from Augusta State May 10
      Miss Chantey Juliet Tutt was recently awarded a Bachelor of Social Work at the annual spring commencement ceremony for Augusta State University Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the James Brown Arena. A party was hosted afterwards by her parents to celebrate the occasion.

Touring the northwest U.S.
     Bill and Brenda Leopard recently toured Yellowstone National Park. This photo was taken in front of one of the many waterfalls in the park. While there, they observed many of the wild game including elk and bison. They also toured Teton National Park, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

      With temperatures rising higher as summer approaches, Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin is cautioning horse owners to be sure that their animals do not become victims to the heat. During the summer, measures should always be taken to ensure that horses stay cool and healthy.

      Alyssa H. Prater of Appling has been named to the Dean's List for spring 2008 at Anderson University in Anderson, S.C. In order to be named to the Dean's List, a student must maintain a term grade point average of 3.5 or better.

Bowie travels to Wyoming
      Donovan Bowie, son of Yolanda Nicole Bowie and grandson of Ms. Barbara F. Bowie, traveled to Cheyenne, Wyoming to visit his cousins Captain Justin and SanGae (Elam) Ramsey. Donovan and his aunt, Stefanie Bowie, flew into Denver, Colorado on April 4, 2008 and returned to Georgia on April 8, 2008.
