One of the highlights of the Thunder Over Thurmond Independence Day Celebration is the Thunder Cup Softball Tournament. This year's face-off between Lincoln and McCormick counties is set for Thursday, June 26, at 7 p.m. at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex. Tickets are $2 each, with children 10 and under admitted free of charge. A Lincolnton youth was sentenced in connection with the January 2007 robbery of Farmers & Merchants Bank during a "non-jury trial" session of the Lincoln County Superior Court held Thursday, June 12.
