Nellie Kennedy, LWREA member, congratulates Kitty Ball, recipient of LWREA honorarium. Catherine (Kitty Ball) is the Lincoln County recipient of the Lincoln- Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) honorarium.

Kitty submitted an essay on the topic, "The Importance of Furthering My Education." She is the daughter of Penne and the late George Ball and will be attending the United States Military Academy (West Point) in New York.

Willie J. Harris, Lincoln County Middle School assistant principal and member of LWREA, presented the award at the Lincoln County High School Academic Honors program.

Graduating seniors who attend school in Wilkes or Lincoln counties and who are planning to further their education beyond high school are encouraged to apply in the spring of their senior year. Information can be obtained from the school guidance counselor.
