Boating safety course offered

The Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron, the Army Corp of Engineers (J.Strom Thurmond), and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are offering "America's Boating course".

The course will be on Saturday, May 10 from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm and will be taught at the Thurmond Lake Visitors Center, North of the dam in South Carolina on Route 221.

This one day boating safety course will complete the mandatory boating education requirements of both South Carolina and Georgia. You will learn about navigation on waterways, boat operating techniques and safety procedures, how to handle boating emergencies and more. Most boat insurance companies offer discounts for those who complete this course.

The course fee is $35 for an individual or $50 for the entire family.
