Brantley honored on seventh birthday with several parties
      Owen Brantley, son of Mary Ellen and Jeremiah Brantley, celebrated his seventh birthday with a party at Jumpin' Beans Party Zone on Sat., March 8. Owen's birthday cake was a Transformers cupcake cake. He and his guests enjoyed cupcakes, fudge bars, Cheetos and juice. They played in the party zone, in a moonwalk, a ball pit, giant slide and played basketball and air hockey.

Surprise birthday celebration
     Ms. Eva Stokes Gresham and Mr. Eugene "Pete" Stokes were honored with a surprise 60th birthday celebration at the Faith Tabernacle Family Life Center on Saturday, March 15. Their actual birthdays are March 17. The surprise celebration was given by Patricia Stokes, Serena Mansion, Stacie Green, Reggie Norman, Nikki Parrish, Petro Stokes and Timothy Gresham. A glorious time was had by all. Eva and Pete would like to thank everyone for their attendance, gifts and well wishes.

USDA opens enrollment for Conservation Security Program
      The USDA announced it opened enrollment for the Conservation Security Program (CSP) in 51 eligible watersheds on March 19, 2008. The sign-up period is from April 18 to May 16. "The Conservation Security Program is the first working lands program that rewards farmers and ranchers for top-notch conservation on their working lands.

      Barry Holloway of Washington and Vanessa Price of Chicago, Ill., announce the engagement of their daughter, Tiffanie Suzanne Holloway of Washington, to Adam Standard, also of Washington, son of Darrell Standard of Metasville and Yvonne Bonner of Lincolnton.

EASY PROPAGATING
      Many plants are easily propagated by layering, say experts with the University of Georgia Extension Service. Verbenas, euonymus, pachysandra, ivy daphne and climbing roses are some examples that will root if stems are fastened down on soft earth with a wire and covered with some soil.
