GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. Hours of operation are: Thurs., 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-7838 or 706-359-7345.

Planning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are: Jan. 7, 2008; Feb. 11; March 10; April 7; May 5; June 9; July 7; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 6; Nov. 10; Dec. 8.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Turkey shoot

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 194 will have a turkey shoot March 22 at the American Legion Fairgrounds from 7 - 10 p.m. The drawing for the Stoeger M2000 automatic 12 gauge APG Camo Synthetic 23/4 inch and 3 inch gun will be held. Tickets for the gun are available from any Son. For more information contact Kyle at 706-401-0911. Proceeds will go toward veterans programs.

Golf tourney

The Lincoln County Athletic Boosters Club will sponsor a golf tournament March 29 at Golf de L (formerly Rocky Branch Golf Course). It will be a 4-man handicap, 24 max handicap with a 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. shotgun. $1000 cash prize closest to pin.

Valentine banquet

The youth ministry of Morningside Baptist Church will host a Valentine's Banquet Thurs., Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the church. There will be games and doorprizes. Cost is $5 per person or $8 per couple. Tickets must be purchased in advance before Mon., Feb. 11. Please contact the church office at 359-1370 for more information or tickets.

Little League registration

Lincoln County Little League registration for baseball is now taking place. You can sign up at Cliatt Crossing, Farmers & Merchant Bank, Goldman & Wengrow or the LC Recreation Dept. Deadline is Feb. 29, 2008.

Prog. at Ebenezer

The deacons and trustees of Ebenezer Baptist Church will have their program on Sun., Feb. 10 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Charles Lacy and Mt. Nebo Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Basketball camp

Drivers program

Sign up now for the AARP Drivers Safety Program for ages 50 and older to be held Wed. and Thurs., Feb. 20 - 21 from 1-5 p.m. Cost is $10 per person. Register by calling the library at 706-359-4014. Call now, class size is limited.

Women's ministry

Valentine's dance

Lincoln County High School students will host a Valentine's dance in the cafeteria Wed., Feb. 13 from 7 - 9:30 p.m. Admission is $3 and you may bring a date outside of LCHS if you fill out a date form. Date forms must be turned in to Mrs. Dana Brennan by Feb. 7.

There will be decorations, snacks and some great awards for most eligible bachelor, most eligible bachelorette, cupid/match maker, the most on/off couple, and the couple most likely to get married. Nominations will be taken Thurs. and Fri. during high school lunch. Voting will take place upon entrance to the dance with winners being announced around 8:30. Don't miss out on this romantic night!

Thomas-Lane American Legion Post 597 will host a Sweetheart's Ball on Sat., Feb. 16 beginning at 8 p.m.

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union Valentine Retreat will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Sat., Feb. 9 at 9:30 a.m.

Legal help

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County at The Senior Center, 160 May Ave., on Mon., Feb. 11 from 9 - 11 a.m. to meet with seniors needing free legal, non-criminal help on first come, first serve basis.

The Huguenot Society of Georgia is seeking new members. We are descendants of French Protestants, who meet twice yearly in various cities in Georgia. Computer classes Computer literacy for beginners and intermediates will be offered Tues./Thurs. Feb. 5 - 28 at 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. for beginners and 1-3 p.m. for intermediates.

Classes are held in the computer lab located at McCormick Adult Education Center, 615 Clayton St. and are limited to 14 persons. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Dinner served

Dinner served every Wed. and Fri. night at American Legion Post 194. Menu changes on Wednesdays. Steak night every Friday night which includes baked potato, large salad bar, bread, dessert and ice tea.

Garden club meeting

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Feb. 14 at the Lincoln County Library, 181 N.
