     Dr. Norris White Gunby, Jr. took along his copy of The Lincoln Journal on a local rowboat on the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. The Mekong is famous for the many battles fought by the US swift boats (John Kerry) during the war.

      Ivy Briana Safrit, daughter of Chad and Lisa Safrit of Washington and the late Audrey Smith Thornton, was 13 years old on January 24. On her birthday Ivy's grandmother, Wanda Wilson, brought her a chocolate cake along with other gifts from her uncle and aunt, Randy and Peggy Smith of Elberton.

      Colbi Reed Dunsmore recently earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching: Early Childhood Education from Augusta State University. The M.A.T. program requires candidates to have an undergraduate degree and pass state certification requirements for the specific grade level or subject area.

      Albert Jarrell Harris, Jr. celebrated his third birthday on January 21, 2008. He enjoyed a day at Chuck-E-Cheese with his mother, Phyllis; his brother, Dee; his aunt, Dorothy; and his cousin, Chelsea. He then went to his cousin Norman's birthday party at Chick-Fil- A. He was finally treated at his Aunt Alberta's home with a family birthday party.
