Fourteen to vie for title of Mr. LCMS
The contestants vying for the title of Mr. LCMS are: (front row, l-r) Nelson Barksdale, Jr., Chandler Jones, Jordan Welch, Travous Simmons, Ross Glidewell, Alex Western, Ben Turner, (back row) Alec Burt, Gideon Smith, Zach Bentley, Craig Jones, Austin Dockery, and Hoyt Woodall. Not pictured is Mitchell Beale. The third annual Mr. LCMS Contest will take place on Monday, February 4, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.
Melynda Poss is set to serve as the emcee for the occasion.
In addition to Mr. LCMS, judges will select a grade winner as well as first and second-place runners-up for each grade. Awards will also be given to the "Most Photogenic" contestant and to the participants judged to have the "Best Stage Presence," the "Handsomest Eyes," and the "Handsomest Smile."
Bond Turner, Mr. LCMS 2007, will be on hand to crown the winner of the contest.
The 14 young men vying for the title of Mr. LCMS are:
Sixth Grade - Mitchell Beale, Ross Glidewell, Travous Simmons, Gideon Smith, and Ben Turner.
Seventh Grade - Alex Burt, Chandler Jones, Jordan Welch, and Alex Western.
Eighth Grade - Nelson Barksdale, Jr., Zach Bentley, Austin Dockery, Craig Jones, and Hoyt Woodall.
Admission is $4 for high school students and adults and $3 for middle and elementary school students. Children under the age of five will be admitted free of charge. Gold Cards will be accepted for middle school students only.
Sponsored by the LCMS Student Council, the event is being coordinated by Christie Bryan and Benton Cunningham, student council advisors.
In her comments, Bryan thanked MW Tux of Augusta for donating the tuxedos for the evening and Judy Jordan of Koehler Galleries in Lincolnton for taking the photographs for the Most Photogenic, the Handsomest Eyes, and the Handsomest Smile competitions.
