ACS and McDuffie Regional to sponsor cancer workshop

The American Cancer Society and McDuffie County Regional Medical Center have partnered to offer "Look Good...Feel Better" sessions, a free, hands-on group workshop dedicated to helping female cancer patients cope with and combat the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Volunteer cosmetologists lead the program that includes a 12-step skin care and makeup program as well as demonstrations on hair/wig techniques to help restore a positive selfimage. Each participant receives a free gift kit of full size name-brand cosmetics for use during and after the workshop. Christina Wilson, a cosmetologists from Wilkes County, will teach the classes held at the hospital.

Look Good...Feel Better will be offered quarterly in McDuffie County. The first class is scheduled for February 4, 2008 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at McDuffie County Regional Medical Center. These classes are available for residents in Warren, McDuffie, Lincoln and Wilkes Counties. To RSVP please contact Debbie Jones at 706-597-5404.

"We offer many programs and services to cancer patients and their families, but this program is special to us because it helps women restore their sense of inner and outer beauty," said Danielle Caldwell, Community Manager for the American Cancer Society. "It's our hope that we can help as many women as possible feel better about themselves while undergoing treatment for cancer."
