Dear Hearts and Gentle People
      Are you like I am, dear hearts, sick to death of all the political advertisements on the television, the radio, and in all the newspapers? I just don't understand why candidates spend all that money (way over three billion dollars if projections are correct) trying to convince you and me that he/she is the best candidate for the job of President of the United States.

      The Internal Revenue Service issued a consumer warning for Georgia residents. They are advised to be aware of a scam that is being operated in the area that involves the filing of a federal income tax return to get a refund of Social Security taxes paid.

Congressman Broun cosponsors Economic Growth Act of 2008
      Congressman Paul Broun recently cosponsored the "Economic Growth Act of 2008." This legislation is offered in response to concerns that current economic policies are not sufficiently tailored to meet the needs of America's economy. The bill introduced today is specifically designed to stimulate the economy by freeing up resources small business can use for job creation.

      The February meeting of the Legionnaires and the Ladies Auxiliary will be held Tues., Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend. Members who have not picked up tickets for the "Sweetheart Ball" are asked to pick them up from Harvey Elam as soon as possible.
