Health, education conference to be held at Ebenezer
A Family and Community Health and Education Conference will be held Saturday, February 2, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, located on W.T. Mason Road off of Highway 79.
The event is being sponsored by the East Central Georgia Health District, the March of Dimes, and C.U.R.E. (Citizens United for Rural Empowerment).
During the conference, health care professionals and others will be on hand to discuss topics such as sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and AIDS; drugs; pregnancy; tobacco; alcohol; nutrition; dealing with the dying; and coping with grief.
There will be plenty of time for questions and comments.
Among those giving presentations at the conference are Sadie Stockton, an RN who works with the Georgia Department of Human Resources in Augusta; Dr. Diane Evans, an ordained minister and director of nutrition for the Jefferson County School System; Linda Thomas, an RN with the Richmond County Health Department; and Rev. Jacquelyn Johnson, grief counselor.
