Rosie Berry to speak at Ebenezer

The 145th Annual Emancipation Proclamation Observance will be held Tuesday, January 1, at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
The guest speaker for the occasion is educator Rosie M. Berry.
A resident of North Augusta, South Carolina, Berry is currently an assistant superintendent for the Aiken County Public School System.
With more than 31 years of experience in the field of education, the keynote speaker has served as a principal at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels; a curriculum director; and a professional development coordinator. She has also taught and coached in the Columbia and Williston, South Carolina, school districts.
Berry holds a Bachelor of Science and a master's degree in teaching from the University of South Carolina. Moreover, she has completed doctoral course work in education administration at South Carolina State College in Orangeburg.
Over the years, she has received the following honors:
.. The Milliken Family Foundation National Education Award.
.. The USC at Aiken Distinguished Citizen Award.
.. Commendations for service as a member of the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee, the South Carolina Department of Education Review Committee, and the Westinghouse Savannah River Company Diversity Board of Directors.
She has likewise served as the chairman of the Aiken Partnership of the USC Education Foundation's board of directors.
At the present time, Berry is a member of the Aiken County United Way Board, the USC at Aiken Inclusion Board, and Second Providence Baptist Church.
She and her husband, Phillip, have one daughter, Adeana.
In addition to Berry, others taking part in the special observance include Sabrina Elam, the St. Luke Baptist Church Youth Choir, the New Tabernacle Baptist Church Praise Team, Cheron Ware, Danielle Wynn, Kenneth Elam, Mallory Norman, Barry Norman, and Rev. Fred Perriman.
The Emancipation Proclamation Observance is being sponsored by the TIA and the Lincoln County Chapter of the NAACP.
