Dahlia M. Miller Dahlia "Dee" M. Miller, 80, of Chattanooga, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Graveside services will be announced at a later date. Dee was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was born in the Amity Community and was raised by Lessie and Groves Wellmaker. During her youth, she had summer employment at Oak Ridge, Tenn., while attending Martha Berry College. She was a bookkeeper and office manager in Savannah, Ga., Chattanooga, Spokane, Washington and finally retired in Dallas, Texas. After retiring, Dee moved back to the family farm in Lincolnton. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph M. Miller, Sr. and Joe P. Hooks, Sr.; her mother and father, Lessie and Groves Wellmaker; birth parents, Edna and Cecil Cox; a sister, Dorothy Chavis; and a brother, Ishmael Wellmaker. Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Fred) Gant; son, J.P. "Skeet" Hooks, Jr.; and grandchildren, John F. Gant, Jr., Julia (Colby) Reynolds, and Miller L. Hooks. East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist is in charge of funeral arrangements. |
