Emily Wright Christian Mrs. Emily Wright Christian, 74, of Simpsonville, S.C., entered into rest on Monday, November 19, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21 at First Baptist Church of Simpsonville with Rev. Randy Harling and Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating. Interment followed in Cannon Memorial Park, Fountain Inn. Mrs. Christian was born October 19, 1933 in Lincolnton to the late Thomas Blanchard Wright and the late Fannie Norman Wright. She was a graduate of Augusta Business School and a member of First Baptist Church of Simpsonville, the Annie Rhine Circle, Lydia Sunday School Class and the Simpsonville Mother's Club. She enjoyed being known as Grandmama and loved her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and making wedding cakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Christian; brothers, George A. Wright and T. Hillyer Wright. Survivors include a son, George W. Christian, Jr. and wife, Tonda of Concord, N.C.; daughters, Susan Christian of Simpsonville, Carol C. Hopkins and husband, Tony of Greenwood, S.C. and Carla C. Wingate and husband, Jim of Simpsonville; sisters, Miriam Richard and Leila Kelly of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Michelle and Caleb Hopkins, Taylor and Tripp Christian and Emily Wingate; special caregiver, Rita Anderson; and special family friend, Pam Howard. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6010 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, Md. 20852 or to First Baptist Church, 106 Church Street, Simpsonville. Cannon Funeral Home, Jones Chapel, Simpsonville was in charge of arrangements. |
