Watch Night Service

First Baptist Church will have a Watch Night Service Dec. 31 at 9 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Holiday closing

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be closed Dec. 24 - Dec. 29 in observance of the Christmas holidays. Those who were to pick up their food on Dec. 27, please pick up on Jan. 3 instead.

Toys needed

Please help Broad River Realty give a brighter Christmas to the children of Lincolnton by donating an unwrapped toy before Fri., Dec. 21. Toys can be dropped off at Broad River Realty, 286 S. Peachtree St. or call the office at 706-359-3818.

Planning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are: Jan. 7, 2008; Feb. 11; March 10; April 7; May 5; June 9; July 7; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 6; Nov. 10; Dec. 8.

AA meets Thurs.

AA will meet at Lincolnton United Methodist Church on Thursdays for the month of December at 8 p.m..

Free legal help

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Ave., on Thurs., Dec. 13 from 11:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. to meet with senior citizens wanting free non-criminal legal help, on a firstcome, first-serve basis.

If you are unable to meet with them on this date, you may call 1-800-248- 6697 for legal help.

Christmas Cantata

St. Paul United Methodist Church will have its Christmas Cantata, Color It Christmas, on Sun., Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. Join us in fellowship following the cantata.

Angels for sale

Looking for a unique Christmas gift? How about one that will make your loved ones happy and maybe save a life. The Courthouse Crew is selling concrete angels to raise money for Relay For Life. Drop by the Tax Commissioner's office and pick one out. These angels will look great on a mantle, on the front porch or out in your garden. Best of all, every penny of your purchase price will be donated to Relay For Life to help fight cancer. Hurry in as supplies are limited.

We also have bulldog heads available. As with the angels, the purchase price will go to Relay for Life.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Men's softball

If you are interested in entering a team for adult men's softball fall league, contact the LCRD at 359- 2236.

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. Hours of operation are: Thurs., 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-7838 or 706-359-7345.

Christmas dance

A Christmas Dance will be held at American Legion Post 194 on Sat., Dec. 15 at 9 p.m. with DJ Kenny Hill. For more information contact 706- 359-3445.

Gift wrapping service

4-H club members will be wrapping your holiday presents on Sat., Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. There is no charge for this service, but donations will be welcomed. All donations will be used for activities for our club members. Drop off service will be available for those of you who would like to drop off your packages either on Friday or Saturday morning and pick them up on Saturday afternoon.

Christmas Cantata

Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lincolnton, will have its Christmas Cantata on Dec. 23 at 4 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Christmas concert First Assembly of God will present a Christmas Concert on Sun., Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. The music will include familiar Christmas carols as well as music from past Christmas cantatas and will feature soloists and ensembles. The community is invited to join us as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. A nursery will be provided. Call the church office at 706-359-7237 for more information.

Auxiliary meeting

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold its monthly meeting Thurs., Dec. 13, 7:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 194. The Ladies Auxiliary will also have its annual Christmas party immediately following the meeting, please remember to bring a $10 gift to exchange and an appetizer.

Food Pantry items for the month of December are canned fruit and instant potatoes. Merry Christmas to all from the Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194!

Santa at The Coop

Santa will be at "The Coop" at Cliatt Crossing on Thurs., Dec. 13 from 4 - 7 p.m. Bring your camera for free pictures!

Turkey shoot

The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194 will have a turkey shoot Dec. 21 at the American Legion Fairgrounds Fairbooth from 7 - 10 p.m. Food will be available. Come on out for great fellowship.

Post 194 to meet

American Legion Post 194 will hold its monthly meeting Tues., Dec. 18, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. Merry Christmas from American Legion Post 194!

Trees for sale

The Kiwanis Club of Washington is once again selling decorated Christmas wreaths to benefit the youth of Washington-Wilkes. Sale price of the Christmas wreaths is $37 with the proceeds going to fund local youth programs.

The wreaths will be sold at the old bookstore next to Tena's Jewelry and Gifts on Wed., Fri. afternoons and Sat. from 10 a.m. Only seventy-five wreaths were made, so get your quickly.

Christmas on Kelly St.

Jump start your holiday spirit by experiencing a warm display of luminaries and beautifully decorated homes as the residents of Wallace- Wells Subdivision usher in the holiday season with "Christmas on Kelly Street," Fri., Dec. 21, 2007 from 6 - 9 p.m. Visitors are asked to switch from their driving to their park lights and follow the signs and guides as the enter the subdivision.

Please join the residents of Kelly Street, Wallace-Wells Circle, and Kelly Court in this annual celebration. In case of rain the event will take place on Sun., Dec. 23 during the same hours.

Young Miss pageant

The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant will be held Jan. 31 in the LCHS Auditorium at 7 p.m. Applications will be sent to the elementary school on Jan. 7. Applications may also be picked up at Koehler Galleries and the high school from Janet Dukes, FBLA Adviser.

The application fee is $30 and the deadline to enter is Jan. 18 and should be returned to Janet Dukes, FBLA Adviser at LCHS.

Classic Re-Runs open

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for Lincoln County Citizens. Donations are tax deductible.

Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly.

Partridge to perform

The Augusta Symphony will present Diva on the Rise Jan. 12, 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Augusta. The symphony will feature Leah Partridge, soprano singing Mahler Symphony No. 4 and various operatic arias.

Women's ministry

Upward offered

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading is currently open for registration for all boys and girls in K5-6th grades at the First Assembly of God offices. The cost is $45 per child and includes a jersey, t-shirt, water bottle and end of year award. Scholarships are available for any child needing financial assistance.

Parent's night out

The Family Connection and First Assembly of God will host a Parent's Night Out on Sat., Jan. 12 from 6 - 10 p.m. This is open to all children ages four through fifth grade. The cost is $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child within a family. The evening will include dinner, games, activities and a movie. The event will take place at the First Assembly Family Life Center.

Training courses

The American Red Cross of Augusta will hold Babysitter Training courses on Dec. 28, 2007 at the Columbia County Library, 7702 Evans Town Center Blvd., from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The course is for children between 11 and 15 years of age and teaches skills necessary to provide safe and responsible child care. Participants will also learn how to market themselves as a babysitter including preparing a resume'. Those attending need to bring a sack lunch. Listening session

A representative from Congressman Paul Broun's office will hear the concerns of local residents and offer support at a "listening session" set for Thursday, December 13.

The special session will take place from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lincolnton Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, located at 112 N. Washington Street.
