Mr. John Marvin Banks, Sr., 75, of Bethany Church Road, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the residence.
A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28 at First Assembly of God with Revs. Paul C. Reviere and Lanis Lewis officiating. Interment followed at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, Ga.
Mr. Banks was a cattle farmer and a school bus driver for the Lincoln County School System for 24 years. He was also a charter member of First Assembly of God and former owner of Bank's Grocery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Banks; brother, Carl Banks; and sister, Louise Banks Rowland.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Holloway Banks; son, John Marvin Banks, Jr. and wife, Kathie of Savannah, Ga.; daughter, Cristy Banks Ware and husband, Dean of Tignall, Ga.; four grandchildren, Blake Ware of Washington, Ga., Charlton Ware and Gracen Ware of Tignall, and Thomas Shores of Savannah; mother, Frances Teasley Banks of Lincolnton; and brother, Joe Banks and wife, Dean of Lincolnton.
Honorary pallbearers were the Lincolnton High School Class of 1949.
