The Red Devils proved last week that redder is better when they defeated Bremen's Blue Devils 19-7.
Albert Einstein once said: "You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else." This statement was underlined by the Red Devils' victory in the away game. This victory puts the Red Devils in the third round of the playoffs against Wilcox County this week.
The first half started with the Red Devils kicking off to Bremen. Bremen made a return to the 24 yard line. They then made a short gain on a wishbone running play before their quarterback was sacked by Carlous Hearst. The drive continued after a fiveyard penalty against the Red Devils for face masking, but the Blue Devils still had to punt the ball off to end the drive. This is how the entire first half went, with both defense groups having to hold off strong offensive lines until the buzzer finally gave them a short respite from the action. The score was 0-0 at the end of the half.

The second half, however, was much more eventful. The Red Devils lost control of the ball while returning the kickoff. The defense had the tenacity to hold Bremen on the 47, though, and returned the ball to the Red Devil offense where it belonged. The Red Devils ultimately gained two first downs before turning the ball over on downs. The Blue Devils' luck wasn't much better, and they punted the ball to end their short drive.
The Red Devils began to apply the heat when A.G. Middlebrooks ran 48 yards past three defenders for the game's first touchdown. The extra point kick was scored by Vance Tarver, moving the score to 7-0. Bremen's bad luck continued when Alex Ellis picked a pass out of the air in their next drive. This interception began a powerful drive. Jafabian and Jamareon Green each earned 20 yards. Middlebrooks was then able to go 17 yards to set up a touchdown by Jamareon Green two plays later.

An ancient Chinese proverb states that "a desperate dog will jump over a wall." This didn't take into account a pack of Red Devils chasing the dog. The desperate Blue Devils tried a pass on a fourth down and didn't get over the wall. Middlebrooks carried the ball from the Blue Devils' 32 to the 12. Jamareon Green sealed the deal and scored a touchdown, bringing the score to 19-0.
Bremen was able to recover from a fumble on the kickoff to make a 13-play drive for the goal line. They scored one touchdown and got the extra point from a PAT kick to move the score to 19-7 where it remained for the rest of the game with three minutes left. They managed an onside kick but were foiled by an interception courtesy of Carlous Hearst. The Devils ran the clock down and won the game 19-7.
Next week's game will be away against Wilcox County. This game will decide who advances to the Georgia Dome for the state class A semifinals.Come out to Wilcox and support the Red Devils at 8 p.m. Friday night.
