Willie Mae Maddox Jones

Mrs. Willie Mae (Susta) Maddox Jones, 82, of Lincolnton, entered into rest on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 at New Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Roy D. Andrews officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was born September 28, 1925 to the late Tate Maddox, Sr. and Janie Mae Norman Maddox. She was the eldest of nine children and a member of New Tabernacle Baptist Church. She married the late Willie W. Jones on December 29, 1945 and they had five children together.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Travis Jones; her parents; one sister, Jesse Mae Maddox Parks; four brothers, William Maddox, Tate Maddox, Jr., Thomas Maddox and Lonnie Maddox.

Survivors include on daughter, Ernestine Jones Simmons (George) of Lincolnton; three sons, Elder Marvin Jones, Sr., (Barbara) of Augusta, Ga., Jesse Jones (Florann) of Athens, Ga., and William L. Jones of Lincolnton; one devoted sister, Bertha Maddox Ellis (William) of Lincolnton; two brothers, Aaron Maddox (Bessie) of Washington, Ga. and Roy Maddox of Brooklyn, N.Y.; thirteen grandchildren, George T. (Bam) Simmons, Jr., Alma P. Simmons, Jennifer A. Maldonado Dorsey, Lizandrea D. Jones, Marvin Jones, Jr., Adrian Jones Ruiz, Devin L. Jones, Kevin L. Jones, Tamy T. Greene, Tameka Barksdale, Laverne Jones, Travis R. Jones and Leslie Starks; one daughter in-law, Jacqueline C. Jones; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were nephews and flower bearers were nieces.

Norris W. Gunby, Sr. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
