Christian women's connection holds old fashioned country fair
By Kittye Craig-Jackson Staff writer/McCormick Messenger

Participating in the county fair were (Lr): speaker, Martha Cahoon, auctioneer Skip Balkcum and Donna Derks with the Savannah River Christian Women's Connection.
Fall is the time for country fairs and the Savannah River Christian Women's Connection, in affiliation with Stonecroft Ministries, featured its country fair fashioned around many homespun crafts, baked goods and all enjoyed a serving of good comfort foods for lunch at the at Tara Country Club in Savannah Lakes Village.

The auction featured the authentic, fast talking auctioneer Skip Balkcum from Evans and the bidding frenzy starting at 1:00 p.m. The event was attended by over 95 ladies and they were able to find all kinds of items for their holiday gift needs. The guest speaker was Martha Cahoon, a multi-talented author and artist. Cahoon is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and has been a teacher most of her adult life. She enjoys writing and has had ar- ticles published in the Stonecroft Magazine. She has completed her first book that has recently been released and during her speech she shared how she saw her future only in shadows of grey until her life was restored and to its canvas the light of hope became visible once again. Cahoon resides in Monroe, Ga. and is the mother of three children and the loving grandmother of eight grandchildren.

The Savannah River Christian Women's Connection luncheons are held the second Wednesday of each month from 12:30-2 p.m. They promise good entertainment, a lasting connection with other Christian woman and delicious food. To attend these monthly luncheons, please make your reservations by calling Judy Brown at 864-391-3706, or Joy Roberts at 864- 391-3625.
