Washington Chorale will present Handels' Messiah

The Washington-Wilkes Arts Foundation will present the Washington Chorale in Handel's Messiah at Washington First Baptist Church on Sunday, November 25 at 8:00 p.m.

The singers will be accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra, the organ played by Anne Myers, and the harpsichord by Jo Randall.

The performance will be directed by Shirley Gunter. Soloists for the presentation will be Shay Harris, soprano; Teresa Bishop, contralto; Tommy Wells, tenor; Tom Duggan, bass.

The 42-voice choir is composed of Washington-Wilkes singers, all whom have sung this beautiful music before. Some of the more familiar of the oratorio choruses are, "And the Glory of the Lord," "For Unto Us A Child is Born," "Surely," and the beloved "Hallelujah Chorus." An added solo this year is "Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion." This is an exciting and moving number sung by well-known soprano, Shay Harris.

This promises to be a wonderful evening of music and a thrilling way to begin your Christmas celebration.

Admission is free with donations being accepted at the door after the performance.
