Budding chefs share recipes for dressing and pumpkin pie Apparently, there are quite a few chefs in the making at LCES. Although some of their recipes need a little tweaking, even the greats like Julia Childs and Emeril Lagasse had to start somewhere. In keeping with the season, several second and third-graders at LCES submitted recipes for dressing and pumpkin pie to The Lincoln Journal. A sampling is as follows - enjoy: .. Cody Griffith - Pumpkin Pie: "You get a pumpkin. You get the nasty stuff out of it, and you cut it into the shape of a pie. You cook it for 1,000 and then eat it." .. Rashanna Mickens - Dressing: "You get some bread, onions, pepper, and chicken juice and a big pan and put it in the stove. Let it cook a long time. If it's not ready, cook and cook and cook and check it and cook it and check it again and let it cook, and it might be done." .. Carlie Bolton - Pumpkin Pie: "Get a pumpkin. Cut the top off of the pumpkin. Get some sugar and vinegar and mix it all together and pop it in the oven, and 'wala,' you have a pumpkin pie. Enjoy!" .. Kiersten Banks - Dressing: "You need to set your oven to 60 degrees F. Get two eggs and two cups of water. You crack the eggs, pour the water in, and mix it. Sprinkle in a little salt, pepper, and vinegar. Put it in the oven. Take it out. Enjoy." .. Jack Wilson - Pumpkin Pie: "Get the yucky stuff out of the pumpkin and put it in a pot. Then, you put some sugar in the pot. Then, you put nuts and a little bit more sugar in the pot. Then, warm it up for about 15 minutes. Then, eat it. (That's the most fun part.)" .. David Baldwin - Dressing: "First, you buy or kill a turkey. Then, if you kill the turkey, pull the feathers off. Then, put flavoring in it. Then, cook it for about 20 or 30 minutes...then, eat for Thanksgiving!" .. Mikayla Woodard - Pumpkin Pie: "What you'll need: pie crust, mixer, pumpkin, and butter. First, lay the pie crust on the counter. Get the pumpkin and cut it open. Get the goo out. Put it in a bowl and mix it. Put the goo in the crust. Put the oven on 350 degrees. Put the pie in. Let it stay in for 20 minutes. Take it out and let it cool. Eat and enjoy." • Alex Miguel - Alex' Pumpkin Pie: "Step 1: Go to Wal-Mart and buy a pumpkin pie. The end." .. Quez Cullars - Dressing: "Buy the dressing. Put it in the stove. Then, let it sit there until it is cooked and put eggs in it." .. Jared Wright - Pumpkin Pie: "You buy a pumpkin from the store. Then, you cut it open and get the pumpkin out of it. Put it in the oven for two hours. And then, take it out and let it cool. Then, you've got pumpkin pie." .. Sharae Tyvesha Booker - Pumpkin Pie: "Well, first you have to buy a pumpkin. Second, cut the pumpkin eyes and mouth out. Third, you cut it in half then put in some flour and one cup of sugar. Fourth, you sit it in the stove for 20 minutes. Last, you put it outside of your window and let it get dry. I hope you love it. Enjoy the resapee (recipe)." .. Carlos Mariney, Jr. - Pumpkin Pie: "Get the ingredients: a pie crust, spices, sugar, salt, eggs, milk, and pumpkin. Mix together the sugar, spices, and salt. Beat the eggs with a fork or whisk. Mix together the eggs, milk, and pumpkin. Pour the mix into the pie shell and cook at 425 degrees F for 45 minutes." .. Tronyotta Hawes - Dressing: "You put in eggs and two cups of water. Then, you put it in the oven, and it cooks for three minutes or four minutes. And then you wait and wait. Then, you smell something, and you take it out and eat it." .. Justin Sward - Dressing: "I think you make dressing by getting turkey juice and spices and mixing them together. Then, you put butter in and mix them together. Then, you cook it." .. Thomas Mattison - Pumpkin Pie: "First, take a pumpkin and carve it with a knife. Then, take the seeds out. Then, put the insides of the pumpkin in a bowl, make it look like a pumpkin pie, and put it in the oven and bake it for about 10 minutes. Then, take it out and eat it." Happy Thanksgiving!!! |
