Lee Robinson named as GFCA Coach of the Year

Lee Robinson, debate coach at LCHS, was named the 2007 Georgia Forensic Coaches Association (GFCA) Coach of the Year.
The award was presented to Robinson by GFCA President Richard Bracknell.
"Lee Robinson coaches a successful program that has captured state championships in debate and individual events and has qualified for national tournaments," said Bracknell. "In addition to Mrs. Robinson's commitment to her own program, she is also committed to supporting debate programs throughout the state. It is an honor to present this award to someone who is not only a colleague but a personal friend as well."
During her 14 years at LCHS, Robinson's students have won four state championships and 21 region titles. Moreover, since her students began competing in national qualifying tournaments in 2005, they have received nine bids to NCFL(National Catholic Forensic League) and NFL(National Forensic League) tournaments. LCHS debaters have also received bids to the Richard B. Russell All- State Debates three of the past four years.
In addition to serving as an officer in the GFCA since 2002, Robinson, a "quint ruby" NFLcoach, has been a member of the NFLGeorgia Southern Peach District Committee for the past two years. She has likewise served as the tournament director for the LCHS Winter by the Lake Tournament, which was named a Richard B. Russell All-State Debates qualifier in 2007.
Concerning other honors, the coach was named the Northside High School Tournament Debate Coach of the Year in 2003. She was also LCHS's STAR Teacher in 2001, 2003, and 2004 and the LCHS Teacher of the Year in 2005.
Robinson has served as the literary coordinator and chairman of the English department at LCHS since 2004.
