The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce hosted a "Website Launch Party" on Monday, November 5, in the Dova Partridge Annex of the Lincoln County Library.

The purpose of the party was to introduce chamber members to the organization's new website, developed and maintained by J House Media of Athens.

According to Brandie Reese, chamber administrator, "Because the Internet offers people quick and easy access to information, our website could very well be the first impression a prospective resident, business owner, or visitor gets of Lincoln County. Since we only have one chance to make a good first impression, we want our chance to market our county to count."

She went on to say that cyberspace provides the county with a level playing field. "Through our website, we can compete with smaller counties with more resources as well as larger communities. Our new website affords us the opportunity to give people an amazing first impression of Lincoln County."

The website will feature:

.. A full membership directory with both categorical and alphabetical listings. Each listing can accommodate a photograph or logo not to exceed two mb.

.. Quick links from chamber members to their personal webpages.

.. A search engine.

.. A link to Google's Map Search, which will provide a map as well as printed directions to chamber-owned businesses and agencies.

.. A comprehensive community calendar. Events submitted by individuals and organizations will be reviewed by chamber representatives before it is placed on the calendar.

.. Advertising slots available for purchase. Rates, which will be charged on an annual basis, will be determined by the location of the advertisement within the website.

In addition to the chamber, the other sponsors of the site are Farmers State Bank, Homepride Properties, Lee Builders, Powell and Associates, Spratlin Hardware and Building Supply, and Turner Realty.

In closing, Reese invited the community to log on to the chamber's new website at www.lincolncountyga.org to see what the world is learning about Lincoln County.

She also expressed her appreciation to Dycom Holding, Inc. for generously hosting the chamber's former website for so many years.
