George Crawford Jones

Mr. George Crawford Jones, 82, of Jones Martin Road, entered into rest on Friday, October 12, 2007 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 15 at Loco Baptist Church with Revs. Sam Jones, George F. "Sonny" Jones and Deryl Odom officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jones was the son of the late Samuel Alvin and Fannie Mae Goldman Jones. He retired as a textile worker and was a member of Loco Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II's Pacific Theater.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Inez Kirkland Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia Aycock Jones; a step-daughter, Leigh Chastain of Lincolnton; a step-son, Barry Chastain and wife, Cathy of Lincolnton; three step-grandchildren, Chris Chastain, Lacey Chastain and Donna Palmer; three sister-in-laws, Cora Jones of Martinez, Ga., Hazel Kirkland of Lincolnton and Eloise Jones of Hartwell, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Joe Willis, Perry Kirkland, Ted Kirkland, Mike Jones, Barry Chastain and Chris Chastain.

Rees Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
