Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department Oct. 23 and Nov. 20.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Barbecue fund-raiser

Pine Grove UMC will have a barbecue fund-raiser Sat., Nov. 10. Tickets are not being pre-sold. Come by Reed Propane located at 117 N. Peachtree St. from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Cost is $7 for 1 lb. barbecue pork; $5 1 lb. hash. Money raised will be used to support mission work.

Huge yard sale

A huge yard sale will be held at Beulah Baptist Church on Sat., Oct. 20 beginning at 8 a.m. with a bake sale, furniture, household items, tvs, radios and more. Proceeds will go toward the building fund.

Class of 98 to meet

Lincoln County High School Class of 1998 will have a meeting on Sun., Nov. 3, 3 p.m. at Turner Realty to plan their reunion. Please attend to help with the planning. If you would like to help but are unable to make the meeting, please call Clay Turner at 706-359-3930.

Clergy appreciation

Parks Grove FBH Church will have Clergy Appreciation Day on Sun., Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. The program will honor Evangelist Gladys Ferguson, Evangelist Lisa Alston and Minister Ricky Wright.

Guest speaker will be Pastor Bennon of Greenville, S.C. The public is invited. Rev. Tonita Cody is pastor.

Archivist to present prog. Archivist Linda Aaron will speak at the Lincoln County Public Library on Thurs., Oct. 25 from 3-4 p.m. She will present a program on how to identify and preserve family documents and artifacts. She will speak about all types of materials from old letters to photographs to artifacts such as clothing or medals. The public is encouraged to come out learn how to preserve your family's history.

Holiday seminar

A seminar on "Tending to Holiday Stress" will be held on Sat., Nov. 10 from 9 - 11:30 a.m. at the Dova Partridge Annex of the public library. There is no charge for this seminar.

Participants will explore situations that intensify stress and/or depression during the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas, and consider things they can do to relieve stress and enhance the enjoyment of the holiday season. Leadership will be provided by Rev. Linda P. Jones.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Donations welcomed

The Lincoln County Food Pantry welcomes contributions. Your donations are tax deductible. You may mail your contributions to: The Lincoln County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 473, Lincolnton, GA 30817. Thank you for your support.

Driver Ed offered

Driver Education classes are being offered at Lincoln County High School. Those who are interested must contact the school guidance office or principal. You must have learner's permit to be able to drive behind the wheel. Those who are eligible can be tested at the school site for their Class D or C license.

Cost is $325 for the classes with an additional $55 for the driver's license test. Classes will consist of 30 class hours and six hours behind the wheel.

Musical program

First Baptist Church will have musical program Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. with Echols of Joy and other groups will be invited to sing. The public is invited. Admission is free.

Spaghetti supper

The LCHS Academic Booster Club will be having a spaghetti supper on Fri., Oct. 26 before the Lincoln County/Warren County football game. Tickets are $6. Please contact Gail Remsen at 359-7398 or stop by the high school office for your tickets. Thanks you for your support.

Pastor anniversary

The church family of Parks Grove FBH Church will celebrate Pastor Tonita Cody's ninth anniversary on Sun., Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. Rev. Dennis Quinn will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited.

Fall Festival

Rehoboth Baptist Church in the Metasville Community, will host a Fall Festival on Sat., Oct. 20. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. A hotdog and hamburger meal will be held at 6 p.m., with a concert by Jennifer Henderson and Renee Bolton to follow at p.m.

There will be games, food, cake walks, hayrides and more to be enjoyed by all. Everyone is welcome to come join the fun!

Pancake supper

A pancake supper will be held Oct. 20 at Loco VFD at 7 p.m. Cost is $5. A drawing will be held for a 32" flat screen digital TV. Tickets for this tv can be purchased from any LOCO VFD fireman for $1.

Fund set up

A fund has been set up at Farmers State Bank for Tee Turner, who is battling Lou Gehrig's disease.

Classic Re-Runs open

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for Lincoln County Citizens. Donations are tax deductible.

Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly.

Hunters breakfast

Anthony Chapel Church will host its Deer Hunters Breakfast on Sat., Oct. 20 beginning at 5 a.m. Cost is

Homecoming Oct. 28

Faith Temple will have Homecoming on Sun., Oct. 28 with guest speaker, Rev. Wayne Hicks. The public is invited to attend.

Board anniversary

The 80th anniversary of the usher and usherette board of Tabernacle Baptist Church will be held Nov. 4 at

Musical prog.

First Baptist Church will have a musical program Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. with several singing groups. The public is invited. Admission is free. LCCWA will hold women's retreat at Camp Daniel Marshall

The Lincoln County Christian Women's Association is planning a women's retreat at Camp Daniel Marshall in the Double Branches community. The dates for the retreat are November 2, 3 & 4. The retreat is a non-denominational event open to all women.

The purpose of the weekend is to draw more and more women to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to a renewed commitment of serving Him.

Ms. Renee Hall will be on hand to lead singing and special music. Also there will be several women from our community sharing testimony and speaking on issues and challenges facing women today.

The weekend will be filled with plenty of music, worship, food, fun and fellowship. The cost for the entire weekend is $65 per person. Financial assistance is available if needed. There are a limited number of spaces available so we encourage everyone to register early before all are filled. The registration deadline is October 28, 2007.

We look forward to sharing these 3 days and 2 nights with you. If you can't be there for the entire event we invite you to attend the Friday and Saturday evening worship services.

The gospel choir of White Rock Baptist Church will celebrate its 48th anniversary on Sun., Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. Various groups from the surrounding area will be singing and the public is invited. Rev. Seymore Harrison, Sr. is pastor.

Salem Baptist Church will celebrate its 180th anniversary on Sun., Oct. 21. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with guest speaker Dr. Al Wright, pastor of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, delivering the sermon.

SpiritFest Nov. 3

New Beginning Independent Methodist Church located on Tobe Wells Rd., Elberton, will have its third annual SpiritFest Nov. 3 beginning at 6 p.m.

This year's guest of honor will be Brighter Future of Solid Rock Family Worship Center. Also on the program will be The Walker Brothers of Athens, Shannon Cox of Lincolnton, Mrs. Jennifer Fortson and family and The Hughes Sisters, all of Elberton.

The Lincoln County Athletic Booster Club will meet Oct. 22, 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas Bunch Field House. Refreshments will be served at 7 p.m.

Family reunion

Descendants of Morgan Holloway and Frances Reese Holloway will have a reunion Oct. 21 at The Lincoln Center. Please bring a covered dish. Center doors will open at 11 a.m.

The First Baptist Youth Ministry will have pre-anniversary celebration for Rev. Dennis J. Quinn Oct. 29 - Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. There will be different speakers for each night.

Fall Festival Lincolnton Baptist Church invites the public to its Fall Festival Sun., Oct. 21 beginning at 4 p.m. There will be a cake walk and a stuffed animal walk. A chili and hotdog supper will follow the festivities. All are welcome.

Men/Women's Day

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will host the meeting for Areas XI and XII of the Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA) on Oct. 23 at The Lincoln Center. Registration begins at

Sparring matches

The Augusta Boxing Club will present its monthly sparring matches on Thurs., Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m. located at the club's gym at 1929 Walton Way in Augusta.

There is no charge. Participants will be members of the Augusta Boxing Club's beginner and intermediate classes.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Thurs., Oct. 18, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library.

Topics for the evening will be upcoming Georgia tax reform and school board committee information. Everyone is welcome to come be a part of CCLC.

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.
