O for a thousand tongues to sing... TO THE EDITOR How precious are the sound of these words, yes, Praises to the King! Yet here in our wonderful community, the words that are being "sung" are words of gossip, lies and dung! I don't believe that the "Gossip, Tale-teller or Tongue-wager" who has their information from "a reliable source" realizes just how much damage their gossiping does to people personally and professionally. I have lived here in this community now for over 16 years and I have never heard such hurtful, misinformed information and just "bawled faced lies" going around as I have these last few weeks. People's lives and businesses have been damaged severely because of your lies and innuendoes. Instead of your asking the persons directly involved for the truth, you, O' Gossip, just wag your tongue at will and at whomever you so choose. O' Gossip, you should be ashamed of your behavior! But let's not forget those who have itching ears and insatiable appetites for the tasty morsels of half truths, misinformation and lies that the Gossip pitches out there to be chewed on ever so slowly and savored. Didn't this community learn anything from the last barrage of gossip, falsehoods and half truths that tormented it and it's residents a few months ago? You may have even been one of the recipients of such "attacks" from your neighbors, and yet, you speak or listen to this junk! Being a business owner who tries to be a blessing to those in this community and earn a living, just like every other merchant in this town and county, it sickens me to watch good hard working people suffer from malicious attacks from those who we are trying to help and serve. If you have a question about the status of a business or whether "so and so" are getting divorced or whatever your nose needs to find out...why not go and talk to the person(s) directly. If you're nosey enough to want to know, then be adult enough to go to the horse's mouth instead of listening to a horse's ..... May the Lord forgive us all. HOLLY NEWBERRY Favorable compromise TO THE EDITOR I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Lincoln County Development Authority for negotiating a favorable compromise in reference to the friendship fountain. A meeting was set up for controversial concerns of several citizens of Lincoln County. Many issues were resolved with the efforts put forth by the development authority and the representative citizens. I want to thank Alana Burke and John Perryman for their efforts in resolving the issues concerning citizens of Lincoln County. Also, Bill Burke was invited to participate by the Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County and I would like to thank him for his input and comments. AL BEAN PRESIDENT, C |
