Town hall meeting set to discuss issues effecting community

A meeting will be held on Thursday, October 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Lincoln Center to review the results of a town hall meeting conducted last fall to determine the tools and resources needed for families and businesses in Lincoln County to prosper.

Titled the Communities of Opportunity Initiative (Co-Op), the state program is designed to address the lagging economic vitality of rural Georgia through community self-assessment, targeted technical assistance, and incentives.

The initiative is being sponsored by UGA's Fanning Institute, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), and the Georgia Rural Development Council.

Representatives from the Fanning Institute and the DCA will be at the October 18 meeting to help community leaders and local residents identify problem areas in the city and county and devise strategies to ad-
