Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department Oct. 23 and Nov. 20.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

GED/Adult classes

Post 194 to meet The American Legion Post 194 will meet Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

LWREA meeting

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Oct. 11 at the Lincoln County Library, 181 N. Peachtree St. Remember to bring your 2006-2008 GREA copy of Awards and Recognition guidelines. All retired educators are invited to attend. Frances F. Zellars is president.

Choir anniversary

Pleasant Grove CME Church Gospel Choir will celebrate its anniversary on Sat., Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. All area choirs and churches are invited to help them celebrate this joyous occasion.

Musical program

The Tennant Family will have a gospel musical program at Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries in Lincolnton Oct. 7, 4 p.m. There will be different choirs, groups and individuals. The public is invited.

Driver Ed offered

Driver Education classes are being offered at Lincoln County High School. Those who are interested must contact the school guidance office or principal. You must have a learner's permit to be able to drive behind the wheel. Those who are eli- gible can be tested at the school site for their Class D or C license.

Cost is $325 for the classes with an additional $55 for the driver's license test. Classes will consist of 30 class hours and six hours behind the wheel.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

SALS to meet The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194 will meet Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Drama to be presented

The drama Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames will be presented at New Hope Baptist Church in Thomson on Sun., Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. and Mon. and Tues., Oct. 15 - 16 at 7 p.m.

Immunization drill

The Lincoln County Health Department will be holding a mass influenza/ immunization drill on Oct. 2, 3, 4, 2007 from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. all three days. Prices for the flu shots this year will be $20. They accept cash, Medicaid, Peachcare or Medicare Part B.

If you are planning to get your flu shot this year, please make plans to get it now.

Youth 4 Christ meeting

All pastors and youth leaders interested in participating in Youth 4 Christ are encouraged to meet at Martin's Crossroads CME Church on Mon., Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Call 359-1442 for more information.

Ordination service First Baptist Church will be having ordination service on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2:30.

Health Fair Oct. 13

Lincoln County Family Connection will sponsor a Health Fair, Sat., Oct. 13 at First Assembly of God Family Life Center from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will meet at 7:30 p.m., Thurs., Oct. 11, at the American Legion Post 194. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Please remember to bring items for the Food Pantry.

A fund has been set up at Farmers State Bank for Tee Turner, who is battling Lou Gehrig's disease.

Barbecue plate sale

Lincolnton United Methodist Youth will have a barbecue chicken plate sale on Sat., Oct. 13. Tickets can be purchased from any youth for $6 and the plates will be available from 11 a.m. - 12:30 at the fellowship hall on Humphrey St.

Gospel extravaganza

The 10th District Gospel Extravaganza and Mission Day celebration will be held at Sharon Baptist Church, Augusta, on Sat., Oct. 13 at 2:30 p.m.

Georgia Legal Services Program GLSP) staff will be in Lincolnton meet with senior citizens wanting free, non-criminal, legal help on a first come, first serve basis on Wed., Oct. 17, 11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Ave.

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

The Washington Little Theater is gearing up for their newest offering in the 2007 season. The Washington Follies, directed by Jo Rider Randall is set to begin Fri., Oct. 5 at 8 p.m.; Oct. 6 and 7 shows are at 3 p.m.

The show is full of variety and the talent lined up to sing, dance and perform have been veted by the veteran director. The festivities are hosted by Washingtons own Henry Harris and is to include a personality parade of celebrity look alikes.

The theaters annual Gala will be held after the Saturday performance starting at 5 p.m. at the historic Fitzpatrick Hotel Ballroom. Reservations can be made for the show by calling 706-678-9582.

An Evening of Classic: Music from 1750-1850," Oct. 2, 7:30 p.m. at the Warren County High School Auditorium with special guests: The Milledgeville Singers Guild and The Magellan String Quartet.

We ask for donations and will reserve your seat. We have VIP seats at $10 each and patron seats at $5 each. Fall Festival Lincolnton Baptist Church invites the public to its Fall Festival Sun., Oct. 21 beginning at 4 p.m. There will be a cake walk and a stuffed animal walk. A chili and hotdog supper will follow the festivities. All are welcome.
