Food for Thought Let's remember that September is Fruit and Vegetables Matters More Month. Let's help children infuse fruits and vegetables into their diet in a fun and colorful way by joining in PACK Week (Pack Assorted Colors for Kid Week, September 24-28, 2007). Each day of this week has been assigned a color for children to pack in their lunch or snack. We can all be a part of this special week by serving a colorful snack of fruits or vegetables that corresponds to the color of the day. The colors for each day of P.A.C.K. Week and suggested snacks from the website are: Monday, September 24: Pack Purple Day (grapes, raisins, grape juice, plums). Tuesday, September 25: Pack White Day (pears, cauliflower, white peaches). Wednesday, September 26: Pack Red Day (apples, peppers, tomato wedges). Thursday, September 27: Pack Yellow/ Orange Day (carrots, dried apricots, nectarines). Friday, September 28: Pack Green Day (celery, kiwi, broccoli, snow peas). |
