David Theodore "D.T." Danner

Mr. David Theodore "D.T." Danner, 85, of South Washington Street, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Trinity Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 14 at Hephzibah Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Danner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Danner was the son of the late Abram Hughes "Buddy" Danner and the late Maude Lewis Danner. He was tax commissioner for Lincoln County for 32 years and a veteran of the United States Marines serving his country honorably during World War II. He was an emeritus member of Lincolnton Lions Club, American Legion Post 194, County Officers Association and Hephzibah Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Theron S. Danner and Maynard H. Danner.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lenora Ware Danner; a son, David Danner and wife, Brenda; a daughter, Laura Ann Rich and husband, Bob, all of Lincolnton; three sisters, Edna Hill of Augusta, Mildred Goldman of Jacksonville, Fla. and Oleeta Britt of Tifton, Ga.; five grandchildren, Cal Holloway, Amy Danner, Elizabeth Holloway, Becky Reese and husband, Kyle, and Charles Danner.

Pallbearers were David Dietz, Cal Holloway, Talmadge Lewis, Esley Lewis, Stan Lewis, Earl Phillips, Alvin Scott and Joe Smith. Honorary pallbearers were members of Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354.

Rees Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
