Authors Night in McCormick McCormick County Friends of the Library will hold Authors Night, Thursday, September 20. The guest author is mystery writer Dr. William Rawlings, Jr., Sandersville, Ga. He will speak on "The Anatomy of a Thriller", at 7 p.m. at the McCormick Library; this event is free and open to the public. Dr. Rawlings has written four exciting mystery novels which also describe southern living and places that may be familiar to the reader. Preceding his talk at 7 p.m., is a social hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 5:30 p.m. with Dr. Rawlings at the McCormick Arts Council (MACK). The menu selections are inspired by his books. Tickets for the social hour and dinner, which has limited seating, are $15 and are available from Jean Randall: 391-8022. In conjunction with this event, Friends of the Library is offering a crossword puzzle contest. Crossword also is the name of the latest book by Dr. Rawlings. Although the puzzle is designed by the author, reading his books is not a requirement for working the crossword. The puzzle entry form is available at the McCormick Library. Complete and incomplete entries must be returned to the Library by September 15, when two prizes will be awarded. First prize, a signed copy of Crossword, will be selected by random drawing from among the correct entries. Second prize, from among the attempted but incomplete entries, again by random drawing, is a free ticket to the Authors Night dinner at the MACK, September 20. This contest is open to the public and the winners do not need to be present. For additional information, contact Bet Dombrowski, 391-2861, or Jean Randall, 391-8022. |
