Local man loses life in accident on Thomson Hwy. A Lincoln County man lost his life in a one-car accident that occurred at about 3 a.m. Saturday, September 8, on the Thomson Highway, according to a report issued by the Georgia State Patrol Post in Washington. Mitchell Thomas Crook, 37, was headed north in his 2003 Ford F-150 when his vehicle entered a curve and traveled onto the east shoulder of the road. The driver over-corrected, and the truck veered across the southbound lane of traffic onto the west shoulder of the road and back across both lanes onto the east shoulder. The vehicle then rotated clockwise before striking an embankment and several small trees and coming to rest facing south in a wooded area east of the roadway. Crook was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:45 a.m. by Lincoln County Coroner Paul Reviere. The victim was the son of Albert and Carolyn Crook of Lincolnton. Regular obituary information appears on page 2. |
