Adair speaks at CCLC meeting
By: Barbara Sublet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County met at the Lincoln County Public Library on August 16. President Al Bean opened the meeting, Linda Burns, vice president, gave the invocation, then the Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Guest speaker for the month was Ken Adair, Lincoln County Chief Appraiser. He talked on the tax exemptions available to property owners in Lincoln County. If you are a full time home owner, homestead exemption is one. Social security pensions, etc. are considered benefits and not income. A disabled veteran has many exemptions available.

In 2002, pictures were taken of all the property in Lincoln County. Now a third of the county will be appraised each year. If you are a property owner and have questions about exemptions that would be available to you, call or contact Mr. Adair at his office. He stated that he would be glad to answer any questions.

Many good questions were asked and discussed by the members and answered by Mr. Adair. The mem- bers thanks him for taking the time to inform us on the property tax issues.

Discussions were held on the property tax freeze by the members. This subject was brought to the commissioners meeting held August 9. The chairman will not consider this so the CCLC will be taking this further. This tax freeze would help all property owners in Lincoln County.

Al Bean reported on the road projects that have been done through out the county.

Many speakers were suggested for future meetings.

The main purpose of the CCLC is to oversee the projects and problems of Lincoln County that concern the citizens of the county. Please feel free to come and join the discussions with your ideas and your input. We have some very interesting meetings.

The next meeting of the CCLC will be held September 20, 6:30 p.m. at the public library. We always have a guest speaker.
