Cassie Jo Smith weds Mark Cansler Saggus

MR. AND MRS. MARK C. SAGGUS
Cassie Jo Smith and Mark Cansler Saggus were united in marriage at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Pretty Place (Symmes Chapel) a part of the YMCA Camp in Greenville, S.C.

Rev. Addison Belangia officiated.

Cassie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Leroy Smith, Jr. of Lincolnton. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Leroy Smith, Sr. of Woodville, Ms. and Mr. William J. Muszar and the late Lois Goodsman Muszar of Ocean Springs, Ms.

She was a pre-medicine student at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala. working toward her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She was a member of Chi Omicron Chi, the Eagle Cheerleading Squad, and the Great Books Honors Program. She plans to graduate from Austin Peag State University in Clarkesville, Tenn.

Mark is the son of Mr. Mark Furman Saggus of Lincolnton and Ms. Lisa Loraine Roberson of Tignall, Ga. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jack W. Saggus of Lincolnton and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hampton Roberson, Sr. of Tignall. He is a UH- 60 (blackhawk) crew chief in the United States Army stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky.

Cassie was given in marriage by her father and presented mothers with a long stemmed calla lily at the end of the aisle. She chose her sister, Danielle Marie Smith as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were, Whitney Leigh Kirkland, Jessica Marie Rickerson, Kelli Loudell McWhorter, all friends of the bride of Lincolnton and Ansley Smith Saggus of Greenwood, S.C., cousin of the groom.

Mark chose his father to serve as best man. Groomsmen were, Carl Henry Brown of Washington, Ga., Gerald Edmund Goldman, Furman Edward Parton, cousin of the groom, and Jason Lucas Smith, brother of the bride, all of Lincolnton.

Singers were Maury Lynn Saggus and Danielle Marie Smith.

Directing the wedding was Mrs. Denise McWhorter.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Palmetto Bible Camp in Marietta, S.C.

The newlyweds enjoyed a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tenn. They will reside in Clarkesville, Tenn.
