Prize watermelon grower

Roy Blackburn (pictured) and his father, Luther Blackburn, grew this 66-pound watermelon at their home off of the Elberton Highway. "It was good eatin' - real sweet," said Luther. In other watermelon news, a 35-pound watermelon, grown by the father and son team, captured third-place honors at the Tom Watson Watermelon Festival held recently in Thomson.
