Mary Lois Hogan Reid

Mary Lois Hogan Reid, 93, entered into rest July 27, 2007.

Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 4 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Lacy officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Ms. Reid was born August 29, 1913 to the late Linnie Gunby Hogan and Hogie Hogan in Lincolnton. She was educated in the Lincoln County School System and later certified by the state of Georgia as an educator. She married the late William Hubert Reid in 1936. They were married for 46 years and had eight children.

She was a faithful and dedicated worker not only at Tabernacle but churches throughout Lincoln County. She served the Lord in many capacities such as Sunday school teacher, first female Sunday School Superintendent in Lincoln County, director of vacation bible school, Women's Mission, choir member, director of the children's choir, trustee and a member of the Mother's Board.

Survivors include eight children, Deacon Hubert Reid of Atlanta, Ga., Edward Reid of Lincolnton, Robert Reid (Mary) of Lincolnton, Margaret Irene Stidom of Lincolnton, Gladys Reid of Miami, Fla., Monroe Reid (Regina) of Lincolnton, Shirley Martin of Lithia Springs, Ga., and Claudine Noel of Lithia Springs; two sisters, Lila Dunn of Lincolnton and Marvenia Hogan of Pasaaic, NJ; one sister-in-law, Marion Hawes of Augusta, Ga.; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three greatgreat grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were deacons. Flower ladies were Roszell Bennett, Martha Curry, Shavonne Fuller, Liz Kennedy, Brenda Reid and Frances Wilder.

Norris W. Gunby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
