Sheriff reports on burglaries, thefts, and DUIs The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office received reports of two robberies, three burglaries, seven thefts, two stolen vehicles, and two DUIs during the month of July. The burglaries took place toward the latter part of the month. The first incident occurred on July 15 at a residence off of Colvin Kennedy Road. In this case, the burglar(s) stole two pictures and four audio tapes. There were no signs of forced entry. On July 25, an attempted burglary/ home invasion took place at a residence off of Broad River Scenic Drive. The suspect was described as a heavy-set black male with a white or gray goatee, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, a brown baseball cap, and brown boots. He was seen driving a dark blue car with either yellow or orange stripes down the side and dark tinted windows. The subject was unable to gain entry to the home. Another residence off of Broad River Scenic Drive was burglarized on July 27. The following items were removed from the house: a Dell computer, a Hewlett-Packard computer, a 14-inch color television set, and a DVD player. "In addition to the burglaries, we have also been receiving reports of stolen four-wheelers and trailers," according to a spokesman for the sheriff's office. "It appears as if we have an increase in these types of thefts this time of the year." He went on say, "Those who own four wheelers are advised to use chains and hardened steel locks to secure these items. Also, keep fourwheelers parked out of the line of sight of motorists passing by on the highway." The sheriff's office is currently working with South Carolina law enforcement officials to located at least one of the stolen four-wheelers as well as a lawnmower that was taken the same night.
