RECOMMENDATIONS

We, the members of the Lincoln County Grand Jury for the July Term 2007, having been duly sworn on July 30, 2007 in open court by Judge Harold A. Hinesley do herewith submit the following presentments on this July 30, 2007.

We, the members of the Grand Jury, wish to express our appreciation to Presiding Judge Harold A. Hinesley for his timely charge and the efficient manner in which he conducts his court. We also wish to express our appreciation to the District Attorney Dennis Sanders, and his assistant Rindi Harbeson, for their assistance and guidance in our deliberations. We also wish to express our appreciation to Superior Court Clerk Bruce C. Beggs, and the Court Bailiffs for their assistance in the discharge of our duties.

We, the Grand Jury, have elected Sidney Hatfield as Foreperson and Laura Reed as Grand Jury Clerk.

We, the Grand Jury, have acted upon all bills of indictment presented to the Grand Jury.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

AND PRESENTMENTS

We, the Grand Jury make the following general recommendations:

1. Additional public restroom facilities for women.

2. Grand Jury seating area in courtroom needs to be larger and more comfortable.

3. We recommend the commissioners tour the jail at least twice a year, to review procedures, security, etc.

COMMITTEE TO INSPECT JAIL

This Grand Jury Committee has inspected the jail and makes the following recommendations:

1. It was reported to this committee that the present fire detection system is not operational. This matter should be addressed and corrected as soon as possible.

2. There is currently a leak in the jail that should be repaired.

This committee would like to thank the Sheriff, Deputies and Jailers for their dedicated service.

CHILD ABUSE PROTOCAL/CHILD FATALITY REVIEW COMMITTEE

ANNUAL REPORT

We, the Grand Jury have received and examined the annual report of the Child Abuse Protocol/Child Fatality Review Committee filed July 17, 2007 as required by 19-5-2 of the Official Code of Georgia.

PER DEIM

We, the Grand Jury for the July Term 2007, fix the per diem for 2008 as required by law as follows: GRAND and TRAVERSE JURORS at $40.00 per day and BAILIFFS at $50.00 per day.

BOARD OF TAX EQUALIZATION

We, the duly constituted Grand Jury for Lincoln County in accordance with Section 48-5-311 of the Official Code of Georgia, and pursuant to certain vacancies now on the Board of Tax Equalization, do hereby appoint the following named persons to the Lincoln County Board of Tax Equalization for the terms so stated:

To succeed Deborah Tutt as member for the term January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2010, we appoint Deborah Tutt. To succeed Helen Cavett as alternate member for term January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2009, we appoint Helen Cavett. We also appoint Jimmy O'Conner and Colleen LeRoy as alternate members for the term January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2010.
