Residents encouraged to participate in Prayer Walk of Schools Aug. 9

The Lincoln County Ministerial Association is hosting the annual "Prayer Walk of Schools" at LCES, LCMS, and LCHS on Thursday, August 9, at 7 p.m.

"The purpose of this event is for our churches and community to come together to pray for the faculty, staff, administration, students, and their families at each school," said Rev. T.G. Hall, pastor of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and Bethany UMC and secretary of the ministerial association. "We will pray for a safe environment for learning as well as for spiritual renewal for all associated with the school system."

Those who wish to participate in the Prayer Walk should assemble at the main entrance to the campus of their choice where they will receive instructions for the walk.

"This kind of event has met with great acceptance in Lincoln County," according to Rev. Hall. "It has always been a positive experience for our community."

Specifically, the prayer walkers will:

.. Pray for protection from alcohol, sexual activity, hate, envy, greed, and selfishness.

.. Pray that the children will be prevented from obtaining weapons.

.. Pray for the parents of the children who attend the school.

.. Pray for their homes, that God will remove violence and replace it with His love and that the Holy Spirit will dwell there.

.. Pray for the teachers to experience God's leadership as they teach and discipline. Pray that God will protect them.

.. Pray for the teachers and students who are unbelievers, that they might come to know the Lord.

.. Pray for protection on the playgrounds as young people gather there.

.. Pray for the school bus drivers and their precious cargo.

All Lincoln County residents are encouraged to take part in the Prayer Walk of Schools on August 9.
