Lincolnton native named to nursing organization board

DELISHA ZELLARS
Lincolnton native, Delisha "Dee" Lynn Zellars, has been named a board member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). The AACN is the largest specialty nursing organization in the world, representing the interests of more than 500,000 nurses who are charged with the responsibility of caring for acutely and critically ill patients.

"Being a member of the AACN will give me the opportunity to network with thousands of critical care nurses who are dedicated to meeting the needs of acutely and critically ill patients and their families," Miss Zellars said. "I am proud to be a member of the organization which represents the profession I love."

As a member, Miss Zellars will participate in local, regional and national conferences and workshops to stay up-to-date in technology and treatment techniques.

Miss Zellars recently graduated from Darton College in Albany, Ga., with a degree in nursing. She is employed by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany as a cardiac care registered nurse. She is one of more than 3,400 nursing and health care professionals employed at Phoebe.

The hospital, founded in 1911, is one of Georgia's oldest comprehensive regional medical centers. Phoebe is nationally recognized for our exceptional level of clinical care and commitment to the health of the South Georgia community.

"I am committed to providing quality, compassionate and competent care to my patients," Miss Zellars said. "I am honored to be a part of this great staff of health care professionals at Phoebe who deliver firstclass care to patients."

A 2003 honor graduate of Lincoln County High School, Miss Zellars also attended Albany State University in Albany, Ga. During her tenure at Albany State, she served as an attendant to Miss Albany State University during the 2004-2005 school year. She was also a Golden Rams cheerleader and participated in numerous community service projects.

Miss Zellars is the daughter of Gregory and Rebecca Zellars and the sister of Torri Zellars, all of Lincolnton.
