Harris Denham Mr. Harris Denham, 82, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the family residence. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson with sons-in-law Sheldon Boggs and Alvin Messer presiding. A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Denham, was the son of the late Bennie G. Denham and Lillie Lee McDonald Denham. He was a 1941 graduate of Lincolnton High School and was a member of the Red Devils football team. He remained a lifelong fan and always kept up with the team's progress through family members who still live in the area. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in World War II and the Korean War, and a graduate of the Southern Technical Institute (now Southern Polytechnic State University). He was retired from the Cape Kennedy Space Center in Florida as a quality control inspector, and he also worked for various companies at the Cape for over thirty years. He was a member of the Heritage Fellowship Church God. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Denham Ashley. Survivors in addition to his wife of 56 years, Lorine Purvis Denham of Cleveland, are four children and their spouses: Owen and Gail Denham of Westminster, Maryland; Dorothy D. Boggs and Sheldon Boggs of Mt. Airy; Austin and Missy Denham of Melbourne, Florida; and Adrianne D. Messer and Alvin Messer of Cleveland. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as one brother, David Denham of Millen, and one sister, Inez Nichols of Thomson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Heritage Fellowship Church of God Building Fund, Post Office Box 551, McDonald, TN 37353. Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of the arrangements. |
