Justice reports on departmental activities in city

An activity report was recently issued by the Lincolnton Police Department.

According to Chief Jim Justice, Margaret Rose Hawes, 56, of Lincolnton was arrested and charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer and DUI.

In other items of information, the chief noted that the following incidents occurred recently in the city:

.. Roy Lee Ferguson reported that an unknown person(s) broke into his 1971 Chevrolet C-10 while it was parked at an address on N. Washington Street and removed the stereo system, valued at $200.

.. Maude Booker reported that she left her purse at Hardee's and an unknown person(s) stole the pocketbook before she could retrieve it. The purse contained $50 in cash, her Social Security card, and other items.

.. Louella McKellar reported that an unknown person(s) stole her 1999 Nissan Altima while it was parked at her residence on Goshen Street. The vehicle, which was valued at $4,500, was later recovered after it was involved in an incident in Jefferson County. Law enforcement officials have yet to determine who was driving the car at the time.

.. Dianne Norman reported that an unknown person(s) removed a bottle of prescription medication from her car while it was parked in the lot at Bell's Food Market.

Chief Justice indicated that of the above incidents are still under investigation.
