Michael Standiford is the new environmental health specialist at the Lincoln County Health Department.
With the arrival of Standiford and additional funding from the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners, the county will have an environmental health specialist on duty three days a week instead of two. He will be in Lincolnton from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and in Warren County the remainder of the week.
Prior to coming to Lincolnton, Standiford was employed as an environmental specialist with the Richmond County Environmental Health Office. He has also worked as a medical laboratory technician in the blood bank at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center, an environmental health and safety technician for International Paper, and as a phlebotomist for the Shepeard Community Blood Center in Augusta.
Standiford holds a Bachelor of Science degree in public administration from Brenau University.
"Lincoln County is among the most beautiful areas in the state," according to the environmental health spe- cialist. "I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the people of this community."
When he is not working, Standiford enjoys fishing, barbecuing, and gardening.
He and his wife, Christine, reside in Columbia County. Standiford has two daughters, Nicole, 21, and Michelle, 23.
